I have been a huge fan of Shantel Martin for awhile now, hoping to see her perform but knowing she is mainly based in Tokyo, thought it never would happen, but not only can I see her perform tomorrow night, my company is even helping provide the projectors/equipment. So random, so awesome.
This woman inspired me so much as a graphic designer and wannabe VJ, that I bought a Wacom simply so I could do live, continuous drawings projections mixed into a vj set.
She's super talented and super babely. <3

We are now at the 5th NYTMN. The energy at these events keep us coming back for more! The upcoming NYTMN5 will be held at the gorgeously renovated and re-opened, 1,200 capacity venue, 213 NORTH 8TH (former Supreme Trading) in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, the same venue where we held our NYTS2: Skateboarding event. The venue is also affiliated with Le Royale where we held NYTMN2 with DJ Neil Armstrong and DJ Muro.

Fireplays
While at first, I was put off by seeing MGMT in the title, having my fair share of their music months ago, I am glad I watched it. It's a fun visual concept, and filled with some interesting animation later on in the video, as they sequence the movement more.

Zoetrope appreciation post
For my Graphic Design class, I chose to work on a Zoetrope, book of sorts. The book will be made out of Balsa wood, made into a large 14"x18" chest, and it will be about 3 inches deep, allowing for pages of card stock paper to be stored within. On those sheets, will be outlines for Zoetrope slides, and on them of course will be images for animation. There will about 12 strips total, each of which, an animation that explores my youth. The book is to be interactive, so there will be instructions and cutouts within. To be continued ->

Growing Up Is Hard To Do

"Created by a team of alums from the legendary Supinfocom graphics school, this short animation tells the story of a little boy called Gary who falls in love with a hot older chick. Bringing a new twist to this age-old dilemma, Gary creates an alpha male fantasy with which he hopes to seduce her (suspension of disbelief mandatory). Inspired by such cornerstones of French culture as cult crooner Serge Gainsbourg and novelist / director Romain Gary, the short animation is a rich narrative of visual metaphors that challenge classic “coming of age” notions, in a strong graphic style that utilizes 3d technology to stunning 2d ends. Gary is one to watch, refresh and re-watch."
