An indoor trailer park, in Bushwick Brooklyn. Artists have taken over a warehouse space for the winter, and will be relocating to an open field, next to an old Nut Factory, check out the video and the gawker write up.

The title of the series was, "It's All Good."

Zoetrope appreciation post

For my Graphic Design class, I chose to work on a Zoetrope, book of sorts. The book will be made out of Balsa wood, made into a large 14"x18" chest, and it will be about 3 inches deep, allowing for pages of card stock paper to be stored within. On those sheets, will be outlines for Zoetrope slides, and on them of course will be images for animation. There will about 12 strips total, each of which, an animation that explores my youth. The book is to be interactive, so there will be instructions and cutouts within. To be continued ->

Their preferred form of transport is their ‘Heartschallenger’ ice cream truck, they release disgustingly limited edition singles, including a split 6″ single with Crystal Castles on glow in the dark green vinyl, are signed in the US to uber-hip L.A cats, IHEARTCOMIX and their debut UK release was released by the ridiculously cool graphic designer, label owner and self proclaimed ‘creative maestro’, Kate Moross, who also designed the holographic laser foiled sleeve which encases the cotton candy pink vinyl. It is so often the case however, that hipster credentials and fashion mag presence lead to the old fashioned case of style over substance, in which case you’ll be glad to hear that HeartsRevolution fucking rock! Chaotic yet refined, like the aforementioned Crystal Castles brought up on a diet of Blondie as opposed to obscure Sonic Youth b-sides, HeartsRevolution are as cool on record (if not more so) than they are in person, and as you’ve just learned, that’s insatiably cool.

The shamelessly cool video for the track C.Y.O.A (Choose Your Own Adventure) follows, it’s all jerky, stop frame funkiness with lashings of creativity, retro neon lights and, oh, of course, the music…. which as we’ve said, is insatiable.

Apple goes DRM ( Digital Rights Management) free! (on music at least)

A major victory in the campaign to eliminate DRM -- Apple, the last
major retailer of DRM-encumbered music has announced, live at
MacWorld, that iTunes music will be going DRM-free.

Of course, what this really makes clear is that this was never about
the record companies withholding DRM-free music from Apple, but rather
that Apple was unwilling to concede a tiered pricing structure to the
recording companies. In the end, anti-DRM activists -- including
yourself -- were able to educate the public enough to pressure Apple
to give in.

I recently spent some time iNYC, visiting friends who recently came back from Tokyo, Japan. We chatted at length about the different neighborhoods and sub cultures that are prevalent there. The ones that I found most interesting are the following:

Kabukichō (歌舞伎町, Kabukichō?) is an entertainment and red-light district in Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan. Kabukichō is the location of many hostess bars, host bars, love hotels, shops, restaurants, and nightclubs, and is often called the "Sleepless Town" (眠らない街). The district's name comes from late-1940s plans to build a kabuki theater: although the theater was never built, the name stuck.

Harajuku (Fashion District)

JapanForum's group gallery of Harajuku fashion is gigantic, fantastic and mind-blowingly weird. William Gibson once described his "Sprawl" as being "designed by a bored researcher who kept one thumb permanently on the fast-forward button" -- Harajuku is like that, only more so.

" okay, its actually fairly simple - ill give you a basic guide

the black thing at the top is the all important mixer

plug the outputs of units (like the 303 for the acid sound or the 808 for the drum sounds) into different inputs on the mixer

nothing will play until you hit the play button at the bottom

tweakalize various settings to your hearts content

its generally alot easier to make easy cool sounds with the 303 than to reprogram the 808

then try "sidechaining" from the 303.. through various guitar pedals.. then into the mixers input

tweaklise the pedals, turning them on or off you'll see a red light correspond

now enjoy making crazy sounds

note : two 303's running at once can sound a lil crazy.. try turning all the top knobs to maximum

to move the page click and drag, same with all the gadgets there
